Day 6 – Final Results


Great finale today at Scarlino Marina for the Flying Dutchman World Championship 2017.
Hungarian champion Szabolcs Majitenyi & Andras Domokos (HUN 70) are the World Champion 2017, with 16 points from Germany Hans Peter Schwarz & Roland Kirst (GER 87). On the lowest step of the podium, the world champion of the outgoing world, made up of Danish brothers Bojsen-Moeller (DEN 21).
First under 26 German Tim Wenchsler & Benedikt Nagel (GER 90), and first female German Peggy Bahr (GER19).

This is a great week of sailing, where the 102 Flying Dutchman entered the spectacle in the Gulf of Follonica with their extraordinary elegance and timeless lines of water that has been a state-of-the-art boat for years , as well as an Olympic class for nine four years, from 1960 to 1992.
The waters in front of the Marina di Scarlino have represented the right context for nine regular trials, and therefore, with two discards, allow the completion of the program in its entirety.

The battle for the head positions was fought until the last turn, and saw five nations (Hungary, Denmark, Austria, Italy and Germany) to get into the water this morning with the chance to get the iridated title.

With a 2nd place in the final, the title went to the Hungarians Szabolcs Majitenyi & Andras Domoko.

Bold in the mouth for world champions, Jorgen and Jacob Bojsen-Moller brothers, who must give up their leadership and settle for the 3rd place.

Just at the foot of the podium, the Italian Nicola and Francesco Vespasiani (ITA 4) which are at the 5th place. Also the Italians Manuele Gregori and  Mtteo Mariotti are placed at the 10th place.

For the prize-giving ceremony at the Marina Club, along with the challenge awards offered by the international class, the first three crews were given the prizes offered by Mario Luca Giusti, which represented a touch of originality, style and color.

With this event, the curtain falls on an intense competitive season of the Club Nautico Scarlino, which this year has organized a series of high profile events, including the Melges Sailing Series (Melges 32 and Melges 20), the Championship the TP52 World Cup, the Italian Cup Laser, the Swan Sparkman & Stephens Rendez-vous, and the Alcatel J70 Cup.
