NOTICE OF RACE

The Organizing Authority is Club Nautico Scarlino.

1. RULES
1.1 This World Championship will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing 2017-2020 (RRS), the IFDCO Class Rules, the World Sailing Equipment
Rules of Sailing and IFDCO Championship Rules.
1.2 Italian Sailing Federation (FIV) prescriptions n. 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 will apply.
1.3 Rule 115 IFDCO shall apply. This changes Rule 42.3 RRS
1.4 Rule 113 IFDCO (limitation of equipment) shall apply
1.5 If there is a conflict between languages, the English text will take precedence.

2. ADVERTISING
2.1 Advertising is permitted in accordance with WS Regulation 20, as restricted by the Rule 1.4 IFDCO.
2.2 Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and bow number chosen and supplied by the Organizing Authority.
2.3 Italian sailors aiming to display advertising should display the Licenza FIV valid for 2017.

3. ELEGIBILITY AND ENTRY
3.1 The World Championship is open to all boats of the International Flying Dutchman Class with valid Measurement Certificate and Measurement
Forms.
3.2 Helms and crews shall be fully paid members of the IFDCO for 2017.
3.3 Eligible boats may enter through the official electronic form on the FD Worlds website (www.fdworlds2017.com), which will be live from 1st January 2017, to be sent by e-mail to contacts@fdworlds2017.com .
3.4 The fully completed entry form shall be received by the OA no later than 30th July 2017, accompanied by the required entry fee.
3.5 Entries may be accepted after the closing date at discretion of OA, but will be subject to a 50 Euro late-entry supplement.
3.6 ITALIAN SAILORS ONLY: I concorrenti italiani dovranno essere in possesso delle tessera FIV in corso di validità, comprese le prescrizioni sanitarie.
3.7 ITALIAN SAILORS ONLY: I concorrenti italiani dovranno rispettare la Normativa FIV per l’Attività Agonistica Nazionale. I concorrenti italiani minori di anni 18 dovranno consegnare il modulo di iscrizione firmato in calce dal genitore o da chi, durante la manifestazione, si assume la responsabilità di farlo scendere in acqua a regatare.

4.3 All Bank charges are at the expense of the competitor. National letters, sail number and helm’s surname shall be included with payment (e.g. “ITA 100 ROSSI”.

5. FORMAT
The regatta may be split into a Qualifying Series and a Final Series depending on the quantity of entries.

6.3 If weather conditions dictate so, the RC may schedule three races in a day. As a maximum 9 races are scheduled. No race shall start after 14.00 hours on Saturday 30 September.
6.4 The OA and/or RC reserve the right to modify the program because of weather conditions or for any other reason.

7. EQUIPMENT INSPECTION
7.1 Boats competing in the World Championship will be subject to inspection before the Championship begins.
7.2 All boats entering the World Championship must be presented for regatta inspection with:
(a) A valid Measurement Certificate
(b) A Measurement Form
(c) Membership Cards of Helm and Crew

7.3 The IFDCO Class Measurer has the right to have boats, rigs, sail and other equipment re-inspected at any time during the World Championship

8. SAILING INSTRUCTION
SI will be available at registration on Friday 23th September 2017, and may be posted on the event website at an earlier date.

9. VENUE
9.1 The venue will be Club Nautico Scarlino – Marina di Scarlino – Località Puntone – 58020 Scarlino (GR) ITALY
9.2 The race area will be in the waters off Marina di Scarlino, Follonica Gulf. A diagram of the Race Area will be attached to the SI.

10. THE COURSES
The courses will be shown in details in the SI and will include triangle and windward/leeward type of courses.

11. PENALTY SYSTEM
11.1 An IJ will be appointed for the World Championship and its decisions will be final, in accordance with RRS 70.5 and RRS Appendix N.
11.2 Four races are required to be completed to constitute a Championship.
(a) When fewer than 5 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores
(b) When 5,6 or 7 races have been completed , a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worse score
(c) When 8 or 9 races have been completed , a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her two worst scores.

12. SUPPORT BOATS
12.1 Coach/Support boats shall register with the OA during the Entry period
12.2 Coach/Support boats shall prominently display an identification flag or sticker bearing two-number code or the National flag of the
competitor’s nation they are supporting
12.3 Coach/Support boats shall be kept at least 100m clear of the course area during racing, except when asked to assist by the RC or in case of emergency.

13. BUOYANCY
Attention is drawn to RRS 1.2 ( fundamental rule).

14. BERTHING/ BOAT PARK
A dinghy park will be established on the docks of Marina di Scarlino, adjacent to Club Nautico Scarlino, boats should stay within the assigned dinghy park area.

15. RADIO COMUNICATION
Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. These restrictions also apply to mobile telephones.

16. PRIZES
16.1 The following prizes will be awarded:
(a) Dunhill Challenge Trophy (World Championship Overall Winner)
(b) Championship prizes will be awarded to the top 10 teams overall
(c) FD Silver Sombrero Challenge Trophy (World Championship for best result without discards)
(d) Tullio Pizzorno Memorial Trophy (Best helmsman under 26 year)
(e) 100+ Trophy ( best team 100 combined age)
(f) Best FD lady (Ladies)
(g) 25+ Trophy (highest placed boat 25 years of age or older)
16.2 Additional prizes may be awarded at the discretion of the OA.

17. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
17.1 Competitors participate in the World Championship entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4 (decision to race).
The OA will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after
the regatta.

18. INSURANCE
18.1 Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of 1.500.000 Euro per incident or equivalent.
